Discover Newman's Creative Voices

In late spring last school year, Astrid Shivers '27 joined Newsman with a new idea: a Creative Writing section. This space celebrates the imagination and originality of Newman students and  features everything from poetry and short stories to experimental pieces. 

This year, the section received its official name: Write as Rain. Shivers also launched a partnership with Ms. Matson's Creative Writing Class and last week the first pieces from that collaboration were published. 

Students interested in creative writing, can email Astrid Shivers or stop by in the library during club time. Anyone with literary pieces they’d like to see published can send them to newsman@newmanstudents.org. And for all Newsman fans, don’t forget to check out the newest creative works in Write as Rain!
